According to The Sun, Newcastle United could bring in Philip Billing in a swap deal involving Matt Ritchie.

It’s claimed that Bournemouth have held a long-standing interest in re-signing Ritchie, having sold him to Newcastle in 2016.

The Cherries would seemingly be open to a swap deal in order to bring Ritchie back to the club, and Billing may head to Newcastle in a swap.

Billing, 24, is believed to be a little unsettled at Bournemouth right now, and questioned media reports in midweek that he was injured.

Bournemouth boss Jason Tindall has admitted that he’s ‘confused’ with Billing’s situation, as he complained of a hamstring injury in training.

The Dane is seemingly in a stand-off with his manager over his situation, and may end up being allowed to leave the Vitality Stadium.

Billing cost Bournemouth a huge £15million as they raided Huddersfield Town in the summer of 2019, and has scored four goals in 56 games for the Cherries.

Billing is a huge presence at 6ft 4in tall, and could therefore bring something a little different to the Newcastle midfield – but much will depend on whether Steve Bruce wants to offload Ritchie.
