Mikel Arteta will have been hoping to get Oleksandr Zinchenko fit again at Arsenal.
The Ukraine international has been a brilliant signing following a £34 million transfer from Manchester City during the summer transfer window, with Simon Jordan labelling him ‘absolutely phenomenal’ last month [talkSPORT].
But already Zinchenko is looking a little injury prone and he hasn’t played for Arsenal since the victory over Tottenham Hotspur a little earlier this month.
Even that was his first game back following another period of absence.
The Gunners manager will have wanted him fit for tomorrow’s visit to Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League but that looks ‘unlikely’.
According to The Evening Standard, Zinchenko will, in all probability, not be available for Arsenal’s adventure to the Arctic circle tomorrow due to the same injury.
The report did, however, state that the North Londoners would continue to assess him ahead of the visit to Leeds United on Sunday.
Arteta’s side have won eight out of their nine Premier League outings this season, culminating in them reaching the top of the standings.
Sunday’s visit to Leeds is no doubt a difficult test but one you’d expect Arsenal to pass, with or without Zinchenko.
The Spanish manager has Kieran Tierney available again but Takehiro Tomiyasu played at left-back in the victory over Liverpool this past weekend and therefore Arteta might continue with that arrangement.
