According to the Daily Mail, Rangers winger Peter Lovenkrands is a shock contender to join Pexro Caixinha’s staff at Ibrox.
The Gers landed Caixinha as their new boss earlier this month, with the Portuguese manager taking the reins following Mark Warburton’s exit in February.
Caixinha has brought his long-term coaching staff with him as Helder Baptista, Pedro Malta and Jose Belman have all arrived in Glasgow, but there is still one position still open on Caixinha’s staff.
The former Al-Gharafa boss wants to land a ‘local’ coach to help him adjust to life in Scotland, with a focus placed on men who have been with Rangers previously to aid Caixinha’s transition at Ibrox.
Whilst the Daily Mail claim that Barry Ferguson is the favourite and John Brown is another candidate, one other contender for the position is Peter Lovenkrands.
Lovenkrands, 37, joined Rangers from AB in his native Denmark back in 2000, scoring 54 goals in 182 games for the Gers, becoming a popular figure at Ibrox.

After spells with Schalke, Newcastle and Birmingham, Lovenkrands has remained a popular figure among Rangers fans having returned to do media work with the club in recent years.
Now, it’s claimed that Lovenkrands will hold talks with Rangers this week over winning the job on Caixinha’s staff, though Ferguson remains the top choice, meaning Lovenkrands will have to really impress to claim the role.
