Peter Kenyon is again being linked with taking over Newcastle United.

According to The Mirror, Peter Kenyon is hoping to get a deal done to buy Newcastle United before the end of the year – but Mike Ashley isn’t convinced.

Ashley has been in charge at St James’ Park for more than 12 years now, but he did put the club up for sale in October 2017.

More than two years on, Ashley is still in charge. There have been various rumours over that time, with Amanda Staveley and the Bin Zayed Group the main players in the mix to buy the club, but neither could get a deal done.

Peter Kenyon has also been linked with a takeover in that time, and new reports are emerging about his plans to finally broker a deal to land Newcastle.

It’s claimed that Kenyon has joined forces with investment group GACP Sports, who are fronted by Bordeaux owner Joseph DaGrosa, meaning they do have experience in football.

They allegedly want to pay £300million structured over three years, and then pump an additional £50million into the club once they gain control, with Kenyon hoping to get a deal done this year in order to attack the January transfer window.

However, Ashley is believed to be sceptical about a move actually going through, with doubts about the funding having failed to strike a deal with Kenyon last season.

Newcastle fans will just be begging that a deal can be done this time, but takeover rumours hitting the press just before a transfer window has become too regular for supporters to take at this point.
