Report: Peter Kenyon still keen on Newcastle United, even if they are relegated

Mike Ashley has suggested that he would like to sell Newcastle United before the January transfer window.

According to the Chronicle, Peter Kenyon will remain interested in buying Newcastle United, even if they are relegated.

Mike Ashley is currently trying to sell Newcastle, and there are hopes that a deal could go through swiftly.

Ideally Ashley would like to sell Newcastle before the January transfer window, but the time is now running out, and negotiations are still not compete.

Whether Ashley will be be prepared to invest in new players if he does stick around remains to be seen.

But Kenyon is said to be prepared to buy Newcastle, even if the negotiations do drag.

The potential new owner is eager to buy the Magpies at whatever stage of the season, and will even reportedly purchase them if they do drop into the Championship.

At the moment Rafael Benitez’s side are relatively safe from the drop, as Newcastle are sat in 14th place in the Premier League table – four points above the relegation zone.
