According to The Express, Manchester City are keen to swoop in and land Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos this summer.

It’s claimed that Pep Guardiola may try and hijack his former assistant Mikel Arteta by bringing Ceballos to the Etihad Stadium.

Arsenal want to take Ceballos back next season, with another loan deal in mind for the Gunners after some strong performances of late.

However, Real Madrid would prefer to sell, and City are ready to splash around £300million in the transfer market this summer.

That means that Guardiola may be able to blow Arsenal out of the water with a cash bid for Ceballos, leaving Arteta to look elsewhere.

City are losing David Silva this summer, and whilst Phil Foden has impressed since football returned, Guardiola may want another playmaker.

Ceballos was blowing hot and cold at Arsenal, but has really kicked on of late with some outstanding performances alongside Granit Xhaka in midfield.

The 23-year-old maybe hasn’t been as effective going forward as some would have liked, but that Guardiola is allegedly keen is a source of praise in itself – and Arsenal will have to hope that the City boss has other targets in mind too.
