Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are facing competition from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City for AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer, according to a report.

Football Transfers have reported that both Arsenal and Manchester City are keen on Bennacer.
The 25-year-old Algeria international midfielder has a release clause of €50 million (£44.5 million) in his contract at Milan.
Bennacer was on the books of Arsenal from 2015 until 2017 and failed to make an impact at the Gunners.
Football Transfers have reported that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is “seriously looking at the possibility of bringing” the midfielder back to the club in case they fail to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Hove Albion or West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.
The report has added that City manager “Pep Guardiola is also a big admirer of Bennacer and has in the past contacted the player directly about a move to the Etihad Stadium.”
Worrying for the Gunners
That Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola personally wants Ismael Bennacer is worrying for Arsenal.
Guardiola is one of the best managers of all time, and City regularly win the Premier League title and compete for the UEFA Champions League.
A move to City could be too tempting to turn down for Bennacer.
Yes, the AC Milan midfielder has history with Arsenal, but if he is not a primary target for Arteta, then it is hard to see him to wait for the North London club to make a move.
