David Moyes was tasked with the job of keeping West Ham safe in the Premier League after Manuel Pellegrini was sacked before the turn of this year.

The former Everton and Manchester United boss secured safety but his real test as Hammers boss starts now. The Irons cannot spend another season fighting relegation, especially after splashing plenty of money over the last two years.

West Ham have been linked with a number of players. One such attacker is Real Madrid’s 21-year-old sensation, Brahim Diaz. The youngster only joined the Galacticos back in January last year but first-team opportunities have been hard to come by.

The Mirror (26/07, page 77) claimed that Moyes wanted to sign the Spanish attacker on a season-long loan deal. Manuel Lanzini and Jack Wilshere’s injury woes, combined with Felipe Anderson’s dip in form, eliminated almost all West Ham’s creativity from midfield.

Diaz has been tipped by many to have a massive future. Even Pep Guardiola, who the youngster played under at Manchester City, was a huge fan of him, labelling his performances in training as incredible. (Goal)

West Ham could have had a real talent on their hands for next season, but it now looks like their former boss has jumped ahead of them to secure Diaz’s services for next season.

Manuel Pellegrini seems to have got one over West Ham

Spanish outlet El Espanol claim that Pellegrini’s Real Betis are close to completing a loan deal for Diaz and an agreement is expected in the coming days.

Pellegrini has known the young attacker since his time at Malaga and he was the one who recommended that Manchester City sign him back in January 2014.

The former West Ham boss seems to have got one over the side that sacked him less than a year ago, and Moyes now has to line up another creative midfielder to bolster his squad for next season.
