West Ham United are in the market for a striker today.
According to The Guardian (11:52), West Ham United are considering a move for Monaco’s Stevan Jovetic – but only if they can’t agree a deal for Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi.
The Hammers are in the market for a striker even with Marko Arnautovic’s injury sustained against Wolves on Tuesday night not being as bad as first feared.
A host of strikers have been linked with moves to the London Stadium, whilst Lucas Perez could be on his way out before tonight’s deadline.
Now, The Guardian report that West Ham want Chelsea’s Batshuayi, but if they can’t convince him to move, then they have another striker lined up.
It’s stated that West Ham would consider moving for Monaco’s Stevan Jovetic, but only if Batshuayi rejects a move to the London Stadium today.
Boss Manuel Pellegrini is very familiar with Jovetic having signed him at Manchester City, and the pair could reunite today at West Ham.
Jovetic, 29, joined Monaco from Inter Milan in 2017, and hit 10 goals in 21 games last season, but has only found the net three times so far this season.
The Montenegro international could be available given his lack of recent success with Monaco, and he’s a name to keep an eye on as West Ham pursue striking reinforcements.
