West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic is reportedly ‘frustrated’.
According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United striker Marko Arnautovic is becoming frustrated with his role at the club.
The Hammers saw Arnautovic attempt to leave the club in the January transfer window, with major interest from Chinese clubs in what would have been a life-changing move.
West Ham stood firm and kept the Austrian at the London Stadium, but he has yet to start a single game for the club since the January transfer window ended.
The Daily Mail note that Manuel Pellegrini has made a point by keeping him on the bench, but the striker is now growing frustrated at his role.
Arnautovic had been limited to around 20 minute cameos before coming on at half time against Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon – and the report notes that Pellegrini may now finally hand him a start against Huddersfield Town this weekend.
West Ham flopped at Cardiff and clearly need to respond against Huddersfield this weekend, with Arnautovic needed in attack after a poor showing from Javier Hernandez.
Even if Arnautovic does return to the side, it’s still expected that he will be on the move this summer, whether it’s to China or anywhere else.
For now, Pellegrini must try to get the best out of Arnautovic whilst sending a message to his squad about loyalty to the club – and after a four-game stint on the bench, now may be the time to start Arnautovic once again.
