Rangers target Pedro Chirivella is poised to reject a new deal with Liverpool amid speculation surrounding his future, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Goal report that the Gers want to sign Chirivella, with Steven Gerrard allegedly receiving positive reports on the 22-year-old midfielder.
That report noted that he had though been offered a new five-year deal at Liverpool. His current contract expires this summer, meaning he could leave for nothing.
Now, it’s suggested that the Spaniard is poised to reject the offer of a long-term stay. Chirivella allegedly fancies first-team football elsewhere as he approaches 23.
Jurgen Klopp has allegedly been impressed with Chirivella’s progress this season and wants to keep him in the squad, rather than have to replace him with a new signing.
It may all fall on deaf ears though, as Chirivella wants to play. He’s taken a big step forward this season, and he’s at the point in his career where he needs to be playing regularly.

Rangers may be able to offer that, and playing for Liverpool legend Gerrard should be appealing. On a free transfer, Chirivella would offer a composed option in the middle of the park for Rangers.
Yet with Nantes interested too, Chirivella snubbing Liverpool may not necessarily lead to an Ibrox move. Rangers will still need to work hard, and be wary of Liverpool throwing more offers at the midfielder to try and tempt him into a U-turn.
