Glasgow Rangers were beaten 5-1 by their Old Firm foes at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership at the weekend.
Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha
A report in the Daily Record has suggested Pedro Caixinha and his backroom team avoided speaking to the Rangers squad following their defeat with Celtic on Saturday, with Kenny Miller leading a heated post-match inquest amongst the players.
The Gers suffered a heavy defeat in the final Old Firm meeting of the season, losing 5-1 to the Hoops at Ibrox to all but end their hopes of pulling off a miraculous turnaround in the race for second place in the Scottish Premiership.
The defeat was made all the more disappointing by the fact that many would have expected some kind of reaction from the Gers following their 2-0 defeat to the same opponents in the Scottish Cup semi-final the previous week where Caixinha’s men simply did not turn up.
And it appears that Caixinha was just as frustrated as the Record suggests that he decided against addressing his team until the following day when they analysed the game at training, leaving Miller to lead the post-match discussions in the dressing room.

And unsurprisingly, the Record suggests that the atmosphere was not the most pleasant as Miller – surely the Gers’ best player on the day, as he has been so often this term – picked apart the defeat and had no qualms about telling some of the players what he thought about their performances.
While Caixinha’s stance is understandable due to his frustration about the two displays – which have certainly taken the gloss off what had been a positive start to life in Scotland for the Portuguese – it may not be a surprise if he also decided against addressing the team due to his summer plans.
He is still working with Mark Warburton’s squad, and may perhaps hope to shift a number of players off the books at the end of the season, and may perhaps have felt it would be a waste of time addressing the squad players that have no future at the club in his eyes, especially as he would have expected a much better reaction following the semi-final display.
