Jose Mourinho denied on Wednesday that Tottenham Hotspur were keen to sell Dele Alli.
Speculation is rife that the 24-year-old could be leaving North London and The Telegraph reported on Tuesday that the player was interested in a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
A switch to the French capital seems unlikely in any capacity now – but another Ligue 1 outfit are reportedly interested, too.
According to 90 Min, Monaco are now keen on the out-of-favour Tottenham star, who has been struggling for games under Jose Mourinho so far this season.
Alli – who earns £100,000 per week in North London – was substituted at half-time in their opening-game defeat by Everton a couple of weeks ago, before failing to make the squad entirely for a Europa League clash afterwards.
The report adds that Paul Mitchell, sporting director at Monaco, wants to re-sign Alli, having previously worked as Tottenham’s head of recruitment at the time of the England international’s arrival in 2015.
This one definitely has legs.
With Alli’s connection to Mitchell – who also knew the player from their time at MK Dons – it does plausible that a switch to Monaco is on the cards.
Then again, Alli is still a massive talent and the Principality side finished ninth in Ligue 1 last season.
Monaco aren’t the rising powerhouse they were a couple of years ago and joining them from the Lilywhites might be considered a step down.
