Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson is expected back from injury in eight weeks, Paul Joyce of The Times is reporting.
Liverpool officially confirmed that Henderson had undergone surgery this morning – but the club refused to put a timeframe on his return.
The Reds simply said that Henderson was now expected to be out until after the international break in March.
Joyce has now revealed that he expects Henderson to be absent for eight weeks, which means that he wouldn’t return until the end of April.
With the Liverpool captain then likely to need to get up to speed in training, it could be that Henderson’s season is almost over already.
The Premier League campaign finishes on the 23rd May, while the Champions League final is scheduled for 29th May.
Henderson could, therefore, be fit for those games if Liverpool were to progress that far in Europe – but it seems that he will only make a handful of appearances this term.
The good news is that Joyce’s prediction of when Henderson will be back is actually more optimistic than some reports earlier this week.
The Daily Mail said that Henderson could be out for 12 weeks, which would have been disastrous for both Liverpool and England, with the European Championships looming.
Liverpool’s task of being without their captain just makes breaking back into the top four even harder for them, with Jurgen Klopp’s side next expected to be in action at the weekend, when they take on Sheffield United.
