Wolves outcast Paul Gladon could return to the Eredivisie this summer with former club Heracles keen.
One year after getting his big break with a move to Wolves, Paul Gladon looks set to return home with his tail between his legs.
And Wolves supporters could be forgiven for forgetting he was even on the club’s books. Wolves paid £1 million to sign Gladon last summer but he featured only twice for the club in the Championship last season, amounting to a grand total of 96 minutes.
In fact, his most recent outing in Wolves colours was a cameo appearance in a 2-1 defeat to Wigan Athletic in September – when Walter Zenga was still at the helm.
Gladon didn’t play a minute of football after Walter Zenga was sacked by Wolves
And predecessor Paul Lambert, who has now been replaced by Nuno Espirito Santo, admitted that the 25-year-old simply wasn’t cut out for life in England’s second tier.
“Paul has maybe found it hard himself. I think it’s maybe thrown him as well, how hard it is,” the Scot told the Express and Star.
“I’ve just got to go with ones I think can do it, week in week out.”
Therefore, it’s little surprise that Wolves would be keen to get Gladon off the wage bill this summer.
In fact, when you consider that the Dutchman managed just two goals in 21 games for Heracles in the defensively disregarding Eredivisie in 2015/16, perhaps Wolves should not have got their hopes up.
As such, Gladon looks certain to follow Silvio, Jed Wallace and George Saville out the door as Wolves aim to overhaul their squad.
Like Gladon, Silvio failed to make an impression at Wolves after signing last summer
