A report in The Scottish Sun has claimed that Patrick Roberts is unlikely to play any part in the first-leg of Celtic’s Champions League play-off tie with Hapoel Be’er Sheva on Wednesday, but is targeting a return for the rematch next week.
The 19-year-old has been out since injuring his hamstring in the 2-1 victory over Astana at Parkhead earlier this month, meaning that he missed the Hoops’ win over Hearts on the opening day of the Scottish Premiership season.
And while The Scottish Sun suggests that he will miss the first game against Hapoel, as well as the league clash with St Johnstone, he could well be in contention to feature in Israel.
Though The Scottish Sun reports that Brendan Rodgers will not take any chances with the Manchester City loanee through fear of losing him for a longer spell, having him soon back available will undoubtedly be a major boost to the Bhoys.

While both James Forrest and Scott Sinclair have impressed in the early stages of the campaign, Roberts appears to be developing into a player who can create the kind of moments of brilliance that change games in an instant.
And if Celtic do manage to reach the group-stages of the Champions League – perhaps with the former Fulham youngster contributing to that goal in the second-leg – they will surely need him at his best as he has the potential to make a major impression on the European stage.
