Patrick Roberts set for Celtic medial on Monday. He will join on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Celtic are expected to confirm the signing of Patrick Roberts on Monday.

The Manchester City winger, who was also a summer target for Southampton, will join on a season-long loan at Celtic Park.

The report claims that the 20-year-old is due to arrive in Scotland on Monday for a medical ahead of his loan move.

Roberts, who joined City from Fulham, enjoyed a fruitful spell at Parkhead last season, proving to be a vital asset to Brendan Rodgers’ squad.

He scored 15 goals in all competitions last season and helped Celtic win the Scottish treble.

Roberts wanted to make a strong impression for City this season, but Pep Guardiola felt it would be best for the youngster to move out on loan again.

The report claims that Man City have asked Celtic to pay a significant loan fee for his services, and Rodgers is willing to do that.

Meanwhile, Rodgers has admitted that he would be looking to make a number of additions to his squad before the transfer deadline.

Celtic are still in the market to bring in one or two new faces after a deal to sign South African Rivaldo Coetzee collapsed due to the player’s medical problems.

“I expect between now and the end of the market to have a number of additions to the squad,” said Rodgers, as quoted by The Daily Record (printed edition; August 28).
