Patrick Bamford could feature for Leeds United reserves over the next week.
The Yorkshire Evening Post has reported that injured striker Patrick Bamford will make his return for Leeds United’s Under-23s in ‘the next week or so’.
The 25-year-old hasn’t kicked a ball for Leeds in nearly six weeks, since scoring the winner in the 1-0 victory at Bolton on December 15.
That was Bamford’s first game for the Whites since August in what has been a very stop-start debut season at Elland Road following a £7 million summer switch [The Daily Mail].
The Whites’ development side face Birmingham on Saturday and there is a chance that former Middlesbrough hitman could feature for Carlos Corberan’s outfit, according to The Yorkshire Evening Post.
Kemar Roofe, spearheading Leeds’ promotion bid, is going to run out of steam in the goalscoring department eventually.
The 26-year-old only has one goal in his last five Championship games and the sooner Bamford returns to share the goalscoring burden, the better for United.
Marcelo Bielsa must not rush Bamford back too soon, however. They can’t afford him to play half-an-hour of senior football and then get injured again.
