According to The Mirror, West Bromwich Albion are hoping to snap up Stoke City defender Glen Johnson for a ‘nominal’ fee during the January transfer window.
New manager Alan Pardew hasn’t quite given the Baggies a boost since replacing Tony Pulis last month, as he has lost three of his five games and is yet to win as West Brom boss.
Pardew may subsequently look to the January transfer window for reinforcements, and he seems to be keen on a new right back, offering competition for Allan Nyom.
The Mirror now report that Pardew is interested in landing Stoke City defender Glen Johnson, after the former England ace was frozen out at the Bet365 Stadium.
The 33-year-old has played in just three Premier League games this season, and hasn’t featured at all in over two months having lost his place under Mark Hughes.
Now, it’s claimed that West Brom are happy to pay a nominal fee for Johnson next month, with Stoke seemingly open to selling for a bargain price given that he can leave for free when his contract ends next summer.

With over 350 Premier League appearances to his name over the course of his career, Johnson is a vastly experienced defender who could aid West Brom in their fight against relegation.
Johnson won’t be a signing to set pulses racing, but as a veteran right back to slot into Pardew’s defence, West Brom may feel that it’s a deal worth doing.
