Nuno Espirito Santo is set to become the new Tottenham Hotspur manager, but it seems that Fabio Paratici had to convince Daniel Levy.

Jose Mourinho was sacked as Tottenham boss back in April, and after more than two months of searching, Spurs seem to have – mercifully – landed a manager.

Nuno left Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of last season, and now walks into another Premier League season.

Levy convinced by Paratici and Nuno

Football.London state that Tottenham chairman Levy had concerns about Nuno’s style of play, which was fairly defensive at Wolves last season.

Levy made it clear he wanted free-flowing, attacking football after the stint under Mourinho, and was seemingly concerned that Nuno would be more of the same; another conservative Portuguese boss. Nuno even played under Mourinho at Porto.

However, Paratici is understood to have shown Levy videos of Nuno’s Valencia that side played a more entertaining brand of football, playing either 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 there instead of the 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 at Wolves.

Paratici has promised that Nuno will bring attacking and entertaining football, with Levy now accepting the idea of him taking charge.

Pressure immediately on Nuno

Any manager taking over Tottenham would be under pressure; they’re a club with high aspirations and looking to get back into the top four.

That pressure has been made even worse by the situation surrounding Harry Kane’s future and the fact that Tottenham have lurched from one managerial disaster to another since Mourinho’s exit.

Now add in that Paratici has promised an attractive brand of football, and Nuno will have to live up to that – both to keep fans and now Levy happy.
