According to London World, Crystal Palace have advanced their interest in West Ham target Callum Hudson-Odoi.
What’s the story?
Well, according to the Guardian, the England international has asked to leave Chelsea on loan in order to receive regular first-team football.
Newcastle are also said to be interested in Hudson-Odoi, while Frank Lampard is keen on a reunion with the 21-year-old at Everton after managing him at Stamford Bridge.
As aforesaid, West Ham are also targeting the exciting winger, who Gary Lineker said has “bags of talent”.
Now, however, it is Crystal Palace who are stepping things up.
London World believe the south Londoners – and Borussia Dortmund – are now exploring the economics of signing Hudson-Odoi, as they weigh up an offer.
It is also said that Crystal Palace have a strong relationship with Chelsea, after successful loan deals involving Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Furthermore, Hudson-Odoi was born and raised in south London, so a move back home could interest him.
Interest in the Chelsea No.20 comes after he scored three goals in 28 appearances last season, while also providing six assists.
Crystal Palace should leave Hudson-Odoi to West Ham
In our view, Crystal Palace aren’t exactly desperate for a player like Hudson-Odoi, despite his talent.
Patrick Vieira already has many attacking options out wide such as Wilfried Zaha, Odsonne Edouard, Michael Olise, Jordan Ayew and Malcolm Ebiowei, while Eberechi Eze can also play on the wings.
Hudson-Odoi is a great player, but if Crystal Palace are to be sniffing around Chelsea for another loan, then a deal for Gallagher, or a loan move for Armando Broja, would make more sense.
Vieira could do with another striker after Christian Benteke joined D.C. United, while the central midfield department is quite light after Gallagher and Cheikhou Kouyate departed.
