According to The Evening Standard, Crystal Palace need to sell players before they can bring in further recruits.

Mamadou Sakho and Connor Wickham are said to be among those for sale, along with others who remain unnamed.

The report states budgets have been hit by the pandemic and the Eagles may need to spend if they are to capture further targets.

While a potential exit for Wickham would be significant after spending five years at Selhurst Park, cashing in on Sakho would be a bigger story.

The former Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool man cost Palace £26 million in summer 2017 following a stunning six-month loan spell.

However, he has struggled to keep fit. According to Transfermarkt, Sakho has been injured for a total 375 days since joining the Eagles.

The 30-year-old has only mustered 70 appearances in three-and-a-half years while at Palace – including his loan spell.

In Wickham’s case he is equally as fragile. The former Ipswich striker has missed a total of 703 days while injured following his £7 million move from Sunderland. Combined, the duo cost £33 million.

The south Londoners have only spent a fee on one of their three arrivals this window.

Eberechi Eze cost £19.5 million from Queens Park Rangers but Nathan Ferguson was captured on a free and Michy Batshuayi arrived on loan.

The Evening Standard said Palace are set to receive £10 million from Alexander Sorloth’s move to RB Leipzig, which should boost funds.

However, it sounds as if more exits are required before further incomings.
