The race for Christian Eriksen is hotting up. A move to the Premier League looks likely, with 90Min reporting Crystal Palace and Fulham have also held talks. Brentford are leading the chase, with Newcastle also interested.

Eriksen, 29, is a free agent. Following his cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark at Euro 2020 – which rocked the footballing world – the playmaker saw his contract mutually come to an end at Inter Milan.

With doubts regarding his future in professional football, Eriksen is keen on a return – and English football looks likely to be his landing spot. It was reported earlier in the day that Brentford are leading the charge.

However, The Times also claim Leicester and Newcastle have shown interest – alongside Brentford. Now, 90Min say that Palace and Fulham have also held talks in the race to sign free agent Eriksen.

Palace join Newcastle and Rodgers in Eriksen race: Which is best?

Whichever club does sign Eriksen needs to offer the midfielder a short-term deal with the option of extending it. Six months until the summer, and then oversee things come the end of the season. But he could potentially shine.

At Newcastle, Eddie Howe needs someone to pull the strings. He has all the attacking components required, but someone is required to pull it all together. Eriksen can do that. At Leicester, he might struggle to start.

Brentford is the obvious move given the Danish connection at the club – with Thomas Frank and numerous players. Fulham are likely to gain promotion, but remain in the Championship.

Palace would offer a return to London. So, Brentford seems like his best bet – but a move to Newcastle or Palace would certainly benefit Eriksen.
