Oxford United’s Ryan Ledson is attempting to join Preston North End.

According to the Daily Mail, Oxford United midfielder Ryan Ledson has handed in a transfer request in an attempt to force a move to Championship side Preston North End.
Ledson, 20, joined Everton’s academy way back in 2002 at the age of just five, and spent 14 years with the Toffees before being sold on to Oxford in 2016 after a successful loan spell.
The midfielder has become a key player at the Kassam Stadium, first impressing under Michael Appleton before also featuring prominently under the now-sacked Pep Clotet this season.

Ledson’s performances have attracted interest though, and Preston North End have been chasing his signature throughout the month, with one bid – believed to be around £700,000 – already having failed.
Now, the Daily Mail report that Ledson has handed in a transfer request just three days out from the final day of the transfer window, in an attempt to secure a move to Deepdale.
The Liverpool-born ace may well fancy a return to the north and a step-up to the Championship, though it remains to be seen whether Oxford acquiesce and allow Ledson to move on this week.

Preston will be waiting in the wings if Ledson is allowed to leave, as manager Alex Neil looks to strengthen his squad and potentially partner Ledson with ex-Manchester United youngster Ben Pearson in midfield.
The Lilywhites sit six points off the Championship play-off places, and may hope that adding Ledson can keep them pushing for a spot in the top six.
