Middlesbrough youngster Djed Spence has told his representatives that he wants to move to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge.
The well-known and well-respected reporter has said on Sky Sports News that Spence wants to move Tottenham and has told his representatives to get a deal done.
The London Evening Standard reported last week that Tottenham and Middlesbrough are continuing talks over a £15-£20 million deal for Spence, described as “outstanding” and “absolutely fantastic” by former Chelsea player Andy Townsend on talkSPORT (5:43pm, March 21, 2022).
Bridge said on Sky Sports News, as transcribed by TheBootRoom: “It’s gone on all summer. Spurs have wanted him for quite some time and they’ve liked him for a long time.
“Talks are still continuing and I know there were reports last week that a deal was extremely close. My understanding was that it wasn’t.

“I know that both clubs would like to get this done ASAP. I think the player would like to join Tottenham, he’s made that very clear to his representatives and Middlesbrough. But a fee is still being discussed.”
Djed Spence likely to join Tottenham from Middlesbrough
In our view, it is only a matter of time before Djed Spence, who can play as a right-back, right wing-back or right-winger, joins Tottenham Hotspur from Middlesbrough.
The 21-year-old has been left out of Middlesbrough’s pre-season camp in Portugal, which suggests that the Championship club expect him to go to Tottenham in the summer transfer window.
Transfer negotiations take time, and Spurs fans should be patient over a potential deal for Spence.
Spence made 41 starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship during his loan spell at Nottingham Forest last season.
The youngster scored two goals and gave four assists in those games.
