Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney is thought to be open to rejoining Celtic under Brendan Rodgers if a deal can be done.

Kieran Tierney is allegedly open to heading back to Celtic as he weighs up his future this summer.

That is according to The Scottish Sun, who claim that Tierney will not close the door on a move back to Celtic.

Tierney is understood to be wishing up a potential move away from Arsenal this summer after a frustrating season.

Tierney managed just six Premier League starts last season as Oleksandr Zinchenko became Arsenal’s clear first-choice left back.

The 26-year-old may now be tempted to move on and play regular elsewhere.

Returning Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is a huge fan of Tierney, calling him ‘outstanding’ just a few months ago.

Celtic have a hefty transfer budget to play with this summer but it may still not be enough to bring Tierney back to Parkhead.

The only way this deal could happen is if Celtic and Arsenal can agree to a season-long loan move.

Celtic would have to commit to a hefty wage contribution and loan fees, making this deal seem unlikely – but Tierney may be interested.

Newcastle United heavily linked with Kieran Tierney

Celtic may hope that the emotional pull can tempt Tierney back, but they’re hardly the only team interested.

The Chronicle reported earlier in June that Newcastle United were confident of securing a deal for Tierney.

The Scotland international was thought to be interested in making the move to Tyneside in order to play more first-team football.

Newcastle have been focusing on other targets like midfielder Sandro Tonali and right back Tino Livramento.

That means their move for Tierney is now unclear and may just leave the door open for Celtic to make an offer.

We still can’t see Tierney to Celtic materialising and think Newcastle is his most likely destination, but maybe Rodgers can work some magic this summer.
