Wolverhampton Wanderers are not shying away being extremely ambitious ahead of their Premier League return.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men won the Championship title at a canter this past season, dominating for most of the campaign and almost notching up a century of points along the way.
They have wasted little time to make plans for life in the top flight. Diogo Jota and Willy Boly have joined on a permanent basis after successful loan spells this past year, while Raul Jimenez has been signed on loan with the Mirror reporting that there is a £30 million option included as part of the deal.
And it appears that the club have no intention of simply settling for a finish that ensures that they will be playing top flight football for a second consecutive year, with the Mirror reporting that the club’s owners Fosun are hoping to see the side finish sixth in 2018/19.
Should they achieve that aim, it would be the club’s highest finish since 1980 when the side also lifted the League Cup. It would certainly be a monumental achievement for the Molineux outfit to break into top six as early as next season.
But given the way that the club handled the expectations and pressure of this past season and have wasted little time getting deals done this summer, it may not be a huge surprise if those closer to the periphery of the top six were concerned about what the newly-promoted side may achieve.
