Wolverhampton Wanderers signed the goalkeeper last month.

According to a report from Portuguese media outlet Record, Sporting Lisbon have lodged a complaint with FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber regarding Rui Patricio’s recent move to Wolves, demanding £48.6 million in compensation from the Black Country outfit.
Wolves had originally agreed to pay just £15.8 million for the 30-year-old, according to a report from the Sun (July 5, page 51).
The Portugal international terminated his contract with the Primeira Liga outfit in June, after being abused by angry Sporting fans who mobbed the players at the training ground in protest at the club’s poor form.

Record now claim that the Portuguese club are demanding a total of £48.6 million from Wolves for the goalkeeper, comprising of £8.6 million for the remaining value of his contract and £40 million which they claim is the player’s value in today’s market.
Wolves have already paid £15.8 million for the stopper, so if Sporting’s appeal is successful, the Black Country outfit will have to fork out another £33 million.
That will obviously be a bitter pill to swallow for Wolves, but that isn’t all…

Sporting have also called on Patricio to be banned from playing for six months and for Wolves to be banned from registering players in the next two transfer windows.
Wolves insist they have done nothing wrong, however, and are confident that the deal they’ve agreed with Patricio will stand up to legal scrutiny.
This may well rumble on for quite some time yet…
