The Argentine has been linked with a move back to Spanish football.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Federico Fazio
The future of Federico Fazio appears to be away from Tottenham Hotspur. The Argentine has recently been linked with a move to join former Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores at Espanyol, as reported by Sport.
However, Mundo Deportivo in Spain is expressing the reasons why this seemingly simple deal has not yet gone through.
Fazio and the club have reportedly ironed out all the details regarding a move. However, Spurs and Espanyol are struggling to come to an agreement.

MD reports that Espanyol cannot afford the fee for the player and Tottenham are therefore willing to send him out on loan until next June.
However, they are concerned that could end in similar circumstances to his woeful stint on loan with Sevilla toward the end of last season.

With that in mind Spurs are seeking assurances over regular first-team football for their player.
The Argentine joined his former club Sevilla on loan in January until the end of the season after falling down the pecking order at Spurs.
He was sent off 25 minutes into his second debut for the club and struggled to find his form, playing just six times.

The Argentine international played just once for Spurs last season, in a Capital One Cup defeat to North London rivals Arsenal.
