The Daily Mail has outlined the reasons why Aston Villa will beat Brighton and Hove Albion, Leeds United and Schalke to the signing of Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

It has been reported that Martinez is close to leaving Arsenal for Premier League rivals Villa.

Although Brighton, Leeds and Schalke are interested in the 28-year-old goalkeeper, it is the Villans who have made the strongest case to the Argentine, according to the report.

Villa showed Martinez around Villa Park on Saturday and sold him the club’s rich history and tradition and assured him that he will get into the starting lineup ahead of the injured Tom Heaton, according to the report, which has added that the Villans also matched Arsenal’s valuation of the player – £15 million upfront plus £4.5 million in add-ons.

Winning the race

It seems that Villa assured Martinez that he will get regular playing time at Villa and have also satisfied Arsenal regarding the transfer fee.

It appears that it is only a matter of time before the Argentine officially become a Villa player.

The 28-year-old is a very good goalkeeper who will make Villa better and stronger defensively.
