According to The Mirror, Aston Villa have given the OK to manager Steve Bruce to splash the cash during the January transfer window.
Villa have made a superb start to life under new manager Bruce, as Saturday’s 2-1 home win over struggling Blackburn Rovers means it’s unbeaten start for Bruce with his new side.

It’s three wins and two draws in his five games, and he’s already showing that he can get more out of the players at his disposal then predecessor Roberto Di Matteo ever did.
Despite that, Villa still need some additions during the January transfer window, even after splashing the cash over the summer to sign the likes of James Chester, Tommy Elphick, Mile Jedinak, Aaron Tshibola, Ross McCormack and Jonathan Kodjia.

Now, The Mirror report that manager Bruce has been told that he can ‘do whatever it takes in the January transfer window’ to turn Villa into contenders for promotion back to the Premier League.
It’s claimed that Bruce held meetings with Villa’s technical staff over the past week, and the belief is that Bruce has a considerable budget to spend on new signings in the new year thanks to owner Tony Xia’s investment.

The report adds that Bruce wants to strengthen his left hand side, as well as adding new faces to the spine of his team – but not many players have been linked with the club ahead of the January tranfser window.
Hull’s Ahmed Elmohamady has been linked by The Mirror having worked with Bruce at Sunderland and Hull, whilst The Scottish Sun recently reported that Villa are watching Hearts youngster John Souttar – two names who may well be on Bruce’s wishlist having been told there is money to spend.
