Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk has been linked with Everton in the January transfer window.
Everton will make a £50 million bid for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk in the January transfer window, according to The Mirror.
It has been reported that Everton manager Ronald Koeman has made a direct plea to the club’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri regarding signing the 25-year-old centre-back this month.
“The Goodison boss has told the Iranian billionaire that the Dutch defender – who Koeman signed for Southampton when he was in charge on the south coast – is his No.1 target and he wants the deal done now,” adds the report.
“Moshiri is determined to be a big player in this transfer window and has assured Koeman the finances are in place for a major splash – and that will start with a move for the 25-year-old Saints centre-half.”

Manchester City are interested in securing the services of Van Dijk in the January transfer window as well, according to The Mirror.
It has also been reported that Everton are interested in Burnley defender Michael Keane, but the Toffees know that the Clarets will not listen to any offers for the 23-year-old until the end of the season.
Van Dijk joined Southampton from Scottish Premiership giants Celtic in the summer of 2015 and has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.

The Netherlands international certainly seems at home in the Premier League, and it will be a surprise if the Saints do not get any offers for the centre-back in the January transfer window.
Everton are seventh in the Premier League table at the moment with 27 points from 19 matches.
