The Tottenham Hotspur manager is being highly touted for the Manchester United manager’s job.
According to a report from the Times, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is prepared to go to war with Manchester United over Mauricio Pochetitno, and it will allegedly take a lot more than the reported fee of £34 million to prise the Argentine away from north London.
The Red Devils sacked Jose Mourinho on Tuesday, and appointed former player Ole Gunnar Solskjær as their interim boss, although Spurs manager Pochettino is believed to be their number one summer target.
The 46-year-old took over as manager of Tottenham in the summer of 2014, and he has worked wonders at the club.
Spurs are now considered to be genuine challengers for honours on all fronts, and despite the fact that they have got numerous world class players, it could be argued that their most important asset is their brilliant manager.
Losing Poch could be disastrous for Tottenham. It would send out entirely the wrong message, and it will be a genuine concern Spurs fans.
According to the Times, United will not have things all their own way, however.
The British broadsheet claims that Levy will not allow Pochettino to leave for the earlier reported fee of £34 million, and he will demand well in excess of that amount.
The news will surely concern Tottenham fans, because it seems to suggest that Levy is prepared to do business, if the price is right.
Obviously everyone has their price, but at the same time, it could be argued that Pochettino is actually priceless to the Lilywhites.
The north London outfit’s chances of success in the future will heavily depend on their ability to keep hold of the Argentine, but money talks, and United have plenty of it.
