The Liverpool forward joined Southampton permanently today.

New Southampton FC loan signing Danny Ings at the Staplewood Campus on August 9, 2018 in Southampton, England. Danny Ings joins Southampton FC on a season long loan deal from Liverpool.

Danny Ings’ £20 million move from Liverpool to Southampton was made official today, according to the Liverpool Echo, and the Merseyside outfit have allegedly included a sell-on clause in the deal.

The 26-year-old spent last season away from the Reds on loan with the Saints, where he scored eight goals in 25 appearances.

The former Burnley man never really hit it off at Anfield, and a move away from the club will probably serve him well as far as the progression of his career goes.

The Liverpool Echo report that the Reds still believe that Ings could go on to become a success, however.

The regional newspaper claims that Liverpool have included a 20% sell-on clause in the deal that takes Ings to Southampton.

Now, Ings has the potential to go on and become a prolific goalscorer with the Saints, and if he does, his value will only increase.

And Liverpool have quite clearly covered themselves for that outcome, but inserting the 20% sell-on clause.

The 26-year-old won’t be a big miss for the Reds, but they still might be able to profit on him further still somewhere down the line.
