Could Yoan Gouffran remain at Newcastle United?
Yoan Gouffran’s contract may have finished at Newcastle United, but it seems that he could remain at St. James’ Park.
The 31-year-old winger, who can also operate as a striker, joined Newcastle from French club Bordeaux back in January 2013.
The former France Under-21 international’s contract at St. James’ Park ran out at the end of last month, and he is now a free agent.

Newcastle, though, want Gouffran to remain at the club. According to The Chronicle, the Magpies have held discussions with the winger over a new contract.
“The French winger stalled on United’s first offer of a one-year contract and his agent is now believed to have requested better terms on a potential new agreement,” states the report in The Chronicle.
According to the report, Gouffran has also attracted interest from clubs in Turkey. The winger is claimed to want a deal longer than just one year.
One can understand why Newcastle (reportedly) want the winger to remain. Although Gouffran has not been a massive success at St. James’ Park, he has done a good job on many occasions.
With the former Caen and Bordeaux man, Newcastle know what they are getting, and perhaps that is why they want to keep him instead of signing a new winger, who may or may not succeed at the club.
