Newcastle United have been linked with Liverpool’s Danny Ings in the January transfer window.

Newcastle United are interested in signing Danny Ings from Liverpool in the January transfer window, according to The Mirror.

It has been reported that Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez wants to sign Ings on a loan deal from Premier League rivals Liverpool.

It has been claimed that Benitez is prepared to offer the 25-year-old striker plenty of games between now and the end of the season so that he can go to the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia in the summer of 2018 with England.

The former Burnley star has recovered full fitness and has played for the Liverpool Under-23 side this season.

Ings is a very good striker, although his impact at Liverpool had been minimal given his long-term injury issue.

Newcastle are struggling for goals at the moment, and signing a player of Ings’ quality and experience would help their quest to escape the drop to the Championship at the end of the season.

Ings joined Liverpool in the summer of 2015 on a free transfer after leaving Burnley at the end of the 2014-15 season, with the Reds subsequently paying the Clarets £6.5 million plus a further £1.5m in add-ons as decided by a tribunal and reported by The Liverpool Echo.
