Middlesbrough are reportedly interested in signing West Bromwich Albion midfielder James Morrison in the summer transfer window.
Middlesbrough are ready to offer James Morrison a deal of around £16.5 million in order to sign him in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Express.
According to the report, the Premier League-bound outfit will offer £16.5m to the midfielder over four years.
Boro, who will play in the Premier League next season after winning promotion from the Championship, will reportedly make an offer of £70,000-a-week, plus a £2m signing-on fee.
Morrison is on the books of West Bromwich Albion at the moment, but his current contract runs out at the end of next month.
The 29-year-old Scotland international started his professional club career at Middlesbrough before moving to West Brom in the summer of 2007.
The reported sum of £16.5m is quite a lot of money, even if it is spread over four years. Boro have just got promoted, and perhaps they can afford to pay that much money to a proven Premier League player.
Middlesbrough had arguably the best squad in the Championship this past season, but to survive in the Premier League, manager Aitor Karanka will have to make some signings in the summer transfer window.
