Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers wants to bring Nottingham Forest’s Henri Lansbury to Glasgow with him, but Aston Villa and Derby County also are interested.

According to a report in the Daily Record, Celtic are not interested in entering a bidding war for Nottingham Forest’s Henri Lansbury.

Celtic have identified Lansbury as a potential transfer target in the January window.

However, they face competition to sign the midfielder from Forest – with Aston Villa and Derby County also believed to be keen to sign the 26-year-old.

Derby have already had an offer rejected for Lansbury, while Villa are said to be lining up a £3 million bid for the former Arsenal man.

Celtic are not prepared to pay that sort of figure for Lansbury, but Brendan Rodgers still has a plan to attract the England youth international to Glasgow.

Celtic are free to speak to Lansbury, as he only has six months remaining on his contract, and Rodgers wants to offer him a pre-contract.

If Lansbury agreed to sign the deal, he would join Celtic at the start of next season on a free transfer.

Lansbury has made 19 appearances for Forest in the Championship this season, scoring on six occasions.
