Arsenal have reportedly been tracking the Sampdoria ace all summer long.

Unai Emery is keen to bring Sampdoria ace Lucas Torreira to Arsenal this summer, and respected Italian football expert Gianluca Di Marzio provided a fresh update on the transfer saga today.
Emery has a lot of work to do this summer, if he is to guide the Gunners back into contention for the Champions League places, and the signing of the 22-year-old Uruguay international would be a great way to start.

Arsenal are believed to be locked in negotiations with Sampdoria, and Gianluca Di Marzio provided a fresh update today.
The Italian football expert claims that the Serie A outfit are demanding €25 million (£22 million) upfront for Torreira, whilst the Gunners would prefer to stagger the payments over the course of next few years.

It has been widely reported that Arsenal have a transfer budget of just £50 million this summer, so it comes as no surprise that they would prefer to pay the fee for Torreira in instalments.
Much will depend on how stubborn Sampdoria are, however, and if they play hardball, the Gunners might just be forced to cave into their demands, if they truly want to bring the Uruguayan to the Emirates.
