Liverpool have reportedly been tracking the Lyon ace all summer long.
Good news for Liverpool fans this morning, with a report from the Mirror claiming that Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has finally softened his stance on Nabil Fekir’s exit from the club.
The France international has been courted by the Reds this summer, after a stellar campaign with Lyon last season, where he chalked up an incredible 23 goals and eight assists in 40 appearances in all competitions – all from an attacking midfield role.
According to the Mirror, Aulas has indicated that he is prepared to allow the 24-year-old to leave Lyon for Liverpool, but only for the right price, although some common ground on the transfer fee will still have to be found.
The Independent reported earlier this week that the two clubs were locked in negotiations regarding Fekir, with Liverpool prepared to offer £50 million for the Frenchman – £11 million short of Lyon’s asking price.
With Aulas’ reported new stance, however, the two clubs might just have to meet in the middle to get a deal done.
Fekir would be an outstanding addition to the Liverpool squad, if Jürgen Klopp does in fact manage to bring him to Anfield, and it could be the signing that transforms them into Premier League title winners.
