The building work on Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium has already overrun by six months.

According to a report from the Sun, Tottenham’s hopes of opening their new stadium for the visit of Arsenal on March 2nd have been blocked due to security fears.

Spurs were supposed to be moving into their new 62,000 home at the start of this season, but that failed to materialise, with work on the arena continuing to overrun.

Tottenham have played all of their home games at Wembley since the start of last season, and Mauricio Pochetitno and his players will surely be desperate to move into a permanent home.

The Sun claims that they might have to wait even longer for that to happen, however.

The British tabloid suggests that Spurs had hoped to unveil their new stadium for the visit of Arsenal on March 2nd, but that has now been vetoed by police chiefs and security advisers.

The news will come as a real blow to Tottenham, and it is seemingly ever more likely that their new stadium will not be ready for use until the start of next season.
