West Ham United have been heavily linked with the Arsenal ace all summer long.

The Hammers have been dealt a blow in the race to sign Gunners ace Jack Wilshere, according to the Telegraph, with the 25-year-old keen to remain at the Emirates and fight for his place in Arsene Wenger’s side this season.

The England international has really struggled with injuries over the past half decade, but did manage to make 27 appearances for Bournemouth during his loan spell with the Cherries last season – 10 more than he made for Arsenal over the course of the previous two campaigns combined.

Jack Wilshere of AFC Bournemouth goes down injured during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and AFC Bournemouth at White Hart Lane on April 15, 2017 in London, England.

Despite his struggles with injury, Wilshere still possesses undoubted talent, and he has been continually linked with a move to the London Stadium all season long, with the Daily Star claiming that West Ham were contemplating making a £20 million bid for the midfielder.

The east London outfit’s hopes of signing the Gunners ace appear to be all but over, however, with he Telegraph reporting that he is desperate to salvage his career in north London, and fight for his place in the Arsenal side.

That will be easier said than done though, with so many midfielders currently available at the Gunners boss’ disposal.

Whatever happens, this season will surely be a last chance saloon for Wilshere, and he must prove his fitness first and foremost, if he is to have any chance of featuring regularly for Wenger’s side.
