Glasgow Rangers have their work cut-out if they are to challenge for the title next season.
Rangers chairman Dave King
Rangers chairman Dave King is set to fly into Scotland today for his first meeting with new Gers boss Pedro Caixinha, and the first item on the agenda will be the club’s potential summer transfer targets, according to the Daily Record.
The meeting between to the two figures will surely prove to be vital in how Rangers plan to address the huge gulf currently present between themselves and bitter rivals Celtic.
The Portuguese was officially announced as the new Ibrox supremo on March 11th, and led his side to a convincing 4-0 win over Hamilton in his first game in charge.
It is the football club as a whole that needs to be looked at from top to bottom, however, and the Daily Record claim that both King and Caixinha aim to address numerous issues during their dinner meeting.
The new manager is reportedly set to provide a list of players to King who he wants to keep, and the areas in which he wants to strengthen, according to the Daily Record.
Aside from summer transfer targets, another item on the agenda is the shortlist of former Rangers players drawn up to join the backroom staff of the Gers boss.
Whatever the actual outcome of the meeting, with Rangers currently 33 points adrift of the Hoops in the league table, something drastic has to happen over the summer if they are to have any chance whatsoever of competing with Brendan Rodgers’ men next term.
