According to a report from the Daily Mail, West Ham could be set to receive a timely boost, with Marko Arnautovic hoping to be back and available for selection before the new year.

The Austrian international was initially ruled out until at least the start of January, after suffering a hamstring tear against Cardiff City on December 4th.

Arnie is a vitally important player for the Hammers, and has proven to be somewhat of a cult hero amongst the London Stadium faithful, after joining from Stoke City in the summer of 2017.

Manuel Pellegrini will be desperate to have the 29-year-old back as soon as possible, and the West Ham boss might just get his wish.

The Daily Mail claims that Arnautovic is pushing to be back involved with the first-team setup before the end of this year.

West Ham face Watford at home on Saturday, followed by trips to Southampton and Burnley to see out 2018.

They then welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to the London Stadium, and perhaps that game will be a realistic target for Arnautovic to make his return to the fold.
