Sky Sports claim Nuno Espirito Santo has been added to Everton’s managerial shortlist as the Toffees look to bring in a replacement for Rafa Benitez. Everton sacked Benitez, after nine defeats in their last 12 games.
Benitez has left Goodison Park after a tricky spell at Everton, despite a promising start. Indeed, his arrival at Everton was criticised by many given his Liverpool connections – lasting just 22 games in all competitions.
Meanwhile, 47-year-old Nuno is still out of work after Daniel Levy decided to sack Nuno in November. The ex-Wolves gaffer lasted just 17 matches, even though he won eight of those games. Antonio Conte has replaced him.
Of course, Nuno was hardly given the time at Spurs to bring in his own players – and had to deal with the saga of Harry Kane. At Wolves, he is considered iconic, winning 95 of his 199 matches as Wolves gaffer.
The report claims Everton are considering the likes of Roberto Martinez, Frank Lampard and Graham Potter – with Duncan Ferguson likely to take over initially on a short-term basis. But Nuno is also being considered.

The reason Nuno struggled at Tottenham was that he was put under pressure in playing a way he does not specialise in. He is pragmatic, and likes to play on the counter. It might just suit Everton.
Benitez is considered a tactically defensive manager, but even Everton’s defence struggled under the Spaniard. Nuno would place more emphasis on the attack, and that might warm Everton fans towards his appointment.
