The Spaniard is considering his future at Red Bull Salzburg.
Aston Villa are currently on the hunt for a new manager, after Remi Garde left the club in March.
The hunt is now on for a manager who can help them back to the Premier League and a new name has been added to the list of managers being linked with the role.
It is now being reported that Oscar Garcia is on their shortlist.
Spanish publication Sport is suggesting that Garcia, currently head coach at Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, is wanted by Aston Villa and three other unnamed Championship clubs as well as teams from Turkey and Greece.
Garcia, who has enjoyed success with the Austrian club, is said to be frustrated with losing players to fellow Red Bull-owned outfit RB Leipzig in Germany and fears that will only get worse after their promotion to the Bundesliga.
Garcia, who has previously managed both Brighton and Watford, would bring Championship experience to the Aston Villa job – but would still be considered as many as something of an outsider for the role.
Aston Villa remain linked with Nigel Pearson whilst Roberto Di Matteo has also become a serious candidate for the head coach role.
