According to the Sheffield Star, Leeds United target Osaze Urhoghide is actually open to staying with Sheffield Wednesday.

It’s claimed that Urhoghide has a strong relationship with boss Darren Moore and that could convince him to stay put despite Wednesday’s relegation.

The defender is out of contract this summer and could choose to move on given that he is attracting major interest at home and abroad.

Leeds are keen to sign Urhoghide, but there is also interest from Crystal Palace, Club Brugge in Belgium and Sporting over in Portugal.

You would think that Urhoghide would want to join one of them in a big move given that Wednesday have gone down to League One, but the Owls have real hope.

Urhoghide, 20, was born in the Netherlands, can play for Nigeria and started his career with CB Hounslow United before heading to AFC Wimbledon.

Wimbledon chose to release Urhoghide in the summer of 2019, and Wednesday snapped him on after an impressive trial, with the defender now impressing in their first team.

Capable of playing at centre back or right back, Urhoghide looks to have a bright future and choosing his next club is hugely important as he seeks first-team football.

Leeds have a number of centre backs already, but Marcelo Bielsa has shown that he is willing to give chances to young players, and a move to Elland Road would enable Urhoghide to stay in Yorkshire.

That’s surely appealing to Urhoghide, but the influence of Moore could yet scupper Leeds’ hopes this summer.
