According to Hamburger Morgenpost, Hamburg are now closer than ever to keeping Leeds United target Stephan Ambrosius.
It’s claimed that Ambrosius wants to stay, and should now commit his future to the club after a strong start to the season.
The club have allegedly ‘grown closer in talks’ with Ambrosius, and whilst no deal has been done just yet, there is new hope that he will stay.
The 21-year-old was born in Hamburg and joined the club from bitter city rivals St Pauli way back in 2012.
Primarily a centre back, Ambrosius has played six league games for Hamburg this season, attracting Leeds’ interest along the way.
Ghana Soccernet reported last month that Leeds attempted to sign Ambrosius over the summer, but couldn’t get a deal done.

They noted that Victor Orta wasn’t giving up on signing Ambrosius, and Leeds were targeting a pre-contract agreement in January.
No wonder Hamburg are now rushing to get a new contract done; and it looks like Leeds may well miss out again.
