According to The Mirror, Leeds United are abandoning their pursuits of Norwich City ace Todd Cantwell and Derby County’s Louie Sibley.

It’s claimed that Victor Orta made contact with Derby over a potential deal for Sibley, but the Rams have demanded £15million.

Leeds have also been pushing to sign Norwich star Cantwell, with Marcelo Bielsa desperate to bring in a new creative midfielder.

However, Norwich want £20million for Cantwell, and that’s too rich for Leeds’ blood as things stand, having spent £100million on new signings over the summer.

Orta has allegedly been tracking Sibley since he scored a hat-trick against Leeds’ Under-23’s in November, so it’s no surprise to see him attempt a deal.

Yet with the 19-year-old already a first-team regular under Phillip Cocu, there seems to be no chance that Leeds can talk the Rams down from their asking price.

Cantwell is another appealing option given that he already has a year of Premier League experience under his belt, but that’s why the asking price is higher.

It now looks unlikely that Leeds will find their new playmaker before Friday’s EFL deadline, and having seen a move for Michael Cuisance fall apart, Bielsa will have to wait until January.
