According to Leeds Live, Marcelo Bielsa’s men are unlikely to make any more signings in January, but Victor Orta could be forced into the market if an injury crisis hits the squad.

The report states that the current squad has been built with the future in mind, and the additions of Rodrigo, Raphinha and Robin Koch were long-term investments.

Leeds Live also state that those at Elland Road will be wary of making another slip-up in the winter window, after the debacle involving Jean-Kevin Augustin last season.

The Frenchman joined the Yorkshire-based side in January on loan, where Leeds had an obligation to make the deal permanent for €21 million (£18.9 million) if they achieved promotion, according to Leeds Live.

Bielsa’s men did just that, but the striker only made three substitute appearances before lockdown summoned a halt to football.

As Leeds technically secured promotion after Augustin’s loan ended, those at Elland Road are attempting to get out of the agreement as Leeds Live reported.

That messy situation should be more than enough to put Leeds off doing any more winter business.

It can be a very difficult time to negotiate, as no club intends to lose a player mid-season.

However, if a lot of Bielsa’s men suffer fitness issues, keep an eye on the market.
